– from the word ‘remedy’ – aims to identify the source of a problem and find a helpful solution or improvement
Also known as ‘medical massage’, it addresses tension held in deep and more surface muscle, as well as issues in other soft tissues characteristic of chronic pain and dysfunction. While often outcome-focused, with its therapeutic and calming nature it can also be used for general relaxation.
A treatment will use common massage techniques such as effleurage, friction and petrissage. However, other approaches such as myofascial release, pressure points and isometric stretches may be involved. Remedial Massage uses oil directly on skin.
There can be mild to moderate discomfort while problem areas are worked on but this should reduce immediately or within 48 hours after a session.
Especially when combined with recommendations, people may experience long lasting relief for many conditions.
There does not have to be a specific problem to book a massage! Anyone can enjoy the benefits of feeling relaxed and having more freedom of movement. Massage can be used to maintain good health, improve blood flow and help support an active lifestyle.
Appointments for remedial massage and shiatsu are available Tuesday through to Friday daytime, with evening appointments bookable on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. £45 for 60 minutes.
I invite you to book a session in my welcoming and accessible treatment room, which is purpose-built and private. There is ample on street parking and it is close to good bus routes, near to Nottingham city centre. There is space to securely lock a pedal bike. The room is ground floor and wheelchair friendly with reasonably accessible toilet facilities. Please communicate with me prior to booking if you have specific access requirements. It may be possible for me to hire an alternative room locally if I am not able to meet your access needs at this venue. I welcome people with neurodiversity and members of the LGBT+ community.
